On September 24, 2011, Ms. Penny Headon was walking across Groat Road Bridge when she spotted a male who had climbed over the railing. The man indicated that he had nothing to live for and was planning to jump. Ms. Headon displayed compassion and bravery when she chose to stay on the bridge with a male she had never met. Without any training, she was able to convince him to come back over the railing to safety and stayed with the distressed man until police arrived. This act of spontaneous compassion to help a stranger in need surely saved a life that day.
