Just after midnight one October evening in 2013, Mr. Kris Faulkner and Ms. Priscilla Holloway were approached by a distraught woman who had been seriously assaulted in a downtown alley. Mr. Faulkner walked toward the alley where he saw a male grabbing his belongings. The man began to yell and make verbal threats when Mr. Faulkner told him he was calling police. For several minutes, Mr. Faulkner followed the suspect while updating police over the phone. Thanks to the detailed location provided, police were able to take the suspect into custody.
While Mr. Faulkner followed the suspect, Ms. Holloway stayed with the clearly distressed woman to provide comfort and ensure her safety. Given the level of aggression displayed by the suspect, Ms. Holloway put herself in potential danger to ensure a person in need was not left alone.
According to one of the investigators on the file, “The pair went beyond merely calling 911, to actively ensuring a suspect was apprehended and a complainant was safe from further harm. They walked into an unexpected and unpredictable situation and performed admirably.”
