The Commission shall designate a Public Complaint Director as required by the Police Act.
The Edmonton Police Commission is committed to effective oversight of the public complaint process. To this end, the Commission will:
- promote a complaints process that is fair, equitable and transparent for all parties to a complaint;
- monitor the complaints process;
- receive complaints, offer alternative dispute resolution processes (where appropriate), and refer complaints to the Chief of Police as required by the Police Act; and,
- other duties as assigned by the Commission.
